Hip Hip Hooray! We have been informed by the LCGB that our website link will be re-instated very soon!
Many many thanks to all of you that gave us your support for our website during this time, especially those that have written either to our Guestbook or the LCGB expressing your disapproval of the action against us and supporting Leonmoor in general.
We finally found out the problem! …. It would appear that we are too honest and open about the activities of our dogs, their behaviour together, dominance over each other for pack position that may involve the occasional fight etc. It apparently gave the impression to some people that some of our younger dogs couldn’t get food easily, had to fight for it, that ears were being ripped off, legs being torn off with all the fighting! Hmmmmm!
We say it as we see it and how it is. We felt our regular website viewers appreciated this honesty and insight into the Leonbergers that live at Leonmoor, and especially those people who have visited us, could relate to the characters that they have met and how they interact with each other. It also helped people who occasionally found their dogs being aggressive in certain situations with other dogs, (Yes it does happen with ALL breed types!) and they realised they were not alone with the problem and helped them deal with it. How do we know this?.... Because many phoned us up to say so!
Unfortunately, in today’s politically correct world, these things are always open to criticism from certain quarters, and it was felt that it could portray the Leonberger as an aggressive breed type. We disagree with this assertion, but can understand this point of view from the ‘do-gooders’ of the world as they will always find fault when they try to treat dogs as humans. They are dogs, and will always behave as such no matter what we would like them or believe them to be acting like. It is disrespectful by us humans to treat them as anything but dogs.
If you apply human emotion to the world of dogs then you become unstuck, because they see things as black and white, do not complicate matters unnecessarily and take you as they find you….. And then still stick by you through thick and thin no matter what!! They are simply fantastic!
Thank goodness they are not like humans, because then our lives would be the worse for it …… as we all know …….. It’s the humans of this world that are the nasty buggers, conniving, self-serving, self-righteous, all consuming and downright dishonest …… not our beautiful Leonbergers.
So, as a result of this we shall be changing all the descriptions for all our dogs to the same general statement so that we do not offend the easily offended and portray the Leonberger ‘correctly’:-
India, Alaska, Lightning, Storm, China, Austria, Africa; “She never does anything wrong, never is aggressive to other dogs even when defending herself, never digs holes in lovely grass lawns, never barks to disturb the neighbours, never chews our lovely new kitchen, never accidently knocks you over with her enthusiasm in greeting you, never keeps bugging you until you have to fuss her, never rolls over on her back for a belly rub because that would be dangerous if you fell over her, never farts when you are eating, never licks you or any part of you in reach because that could cause disease, never takes food off the side when you are not looking, always lets the other dogs eat first, always lets the other dogs go through gates and doors first, and generally is the most perfect dog in existence!”...well,at least the last bit is true! …...and before the next complaint comes sailing in …….we are of course only joking!
…..and the Leonberger world at the moment wonders why more and more Leonbergers need to be re-homed…..could it be something to do with “not portraying the Leonberger in the correct light” we wonder?
Finally, we don’t have a problem if the LCGB have to police the websites that they are linked to, but we have a BIG problem with the way they treated us in doing so. We have written to them suggesting a proper course of action against future website complaints whether ours or others, and if they adopt it or something similar then problems will be resolved so much quicker and with much less heartache and frustration. A simple first step to phone, email or write to the website involved and explain the complaint and ask if it could be rectified within two weeks please, otherwise we may have to suspend your website link until the next committee meeting where it will discussed in detail. Its as EASY as that!
At least this frustrating and upsetting episode is now over…...thanks again for your support, you have been simply marvellous!
