Alaska gave birth to 7 puppies early on Saturday morning! One male and six females. Both mum and pups are doing fine. Alaska is very protective over her pups, only taking the absolute minimum time for toilet before rushing back to her duties. We have to find the most tasty food in order to make sure she eats in the first week such is her focus on her young ones! Any pups straying from her around the litter pen and Alaska will use her nose to nudge them back, or just whines at them to give them a direction to which to get back to her, and then back they come!
Storm gave birth to 10 puppies early on Sunday morning! Six males and four females. Again both mum and pups are doing fine. Being Storm’s first litter she has done remarkably well and has slipped into motherhood very naturally and easily just like her mum. She gently picks up with her mouth any pups straying from her and plonks them back into her belly! Storm is the opposite to Alaska, she will be up and ready for any food going as soon as she hears motion in the kitchen!
Already little bits of character are being shown by the pups, from the bolshy lively ones, to the more reserved and laid back ones. Amazing from such a very young age.
We unfortunately are both exhausted with no sleep for two consecutive nights, with the prospect of not much sleep for the next couple of weeks due to the ‘night watch’ !!
We shall be updating the website regularly with new photos of the growing pups.
The picture below is of one of Storm’s 1 day old pups having a snooze on her front leg!
