We have a big update on Gallery 2  pictures sent in from owners of our offspring….. have a good look and you may see the brothers and sisters of your puppy!

Congratulations to Siberia, Alaska’s daughter, she has just qualified as a PAT dog! (Pets as Therapy) She will be bringing comfort to a lot of people who just need some unconditional love. Well done!

7th November 2011

Our last remaining pup from Storm’s litter went to her new home at the weekend, to a lovely family in Scotland. They have named her Mercedes, she is a bonny bouncy little cracker who we had to keep unexpectedly for a couple of weeks longer and we got a little bit too attached too, so was rather sadder than normal to see her go. We really must toughen up!

Cuba looked after her and kept her occupied most times of the day, showing great maturity for her age. We have a video clip of Cuba and

Mercedes ‘sharing’ a bone together early last week, so cute.

Cuba continues to grow rapidly, she is now 37.5kg at 5 months exactly! She has huge feet and legs, completely ungainly and undignified, and a dream dog like her mum, Africa.

Africa’s full grown weight used to be around the 37kg mark on dry food!  She has recently been weighed at 44kg with much more muscle since we introduced the raw meat back in Feb this year.

Update; we have now Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) to the Health information section.

23rd October 2011

We now have just one girl remaining from Storm’s litter, a real little beauty at only 7 weeks old, if you are interested in her then please ring us asap on 01706 220292.

10th October 2011

Storms pups are now 5 weeks old. They had their 2nd worming session a week ago.

All of the pups were reserved but we have just had unexpected cancellation so we again have one girl pup available! Anyone interested in this

gorgeous little girl then please contact us asap on 01706 220292.

They have been registered with the Kennel Club and the theme of this litter is Formula 1 racing teams! The names are as follows:-

Boys:-

Leonmoor Williams

Leonmoor Mclaren

Leonmoor Force India

Leonmoor Team Lotus

Girls:-

Leonmoor Ferrari

Leonmoor Mercedes

Leonmoor Sauber

For some reason Red Bull and Toro Rosso were rejected! No idea why.

The horrendous weather we have had up here has limited our photographic opportunities for pup photos for the past 4 days, all of which have been either rain or drizzle with high winds. What a contrast to the week before!

The Kennel Club have changed the name of the Accredited Breeder Scheme to the Assured Breeder Scheme reasons that they detail on their website, but it is in essence exactly the same scheme.

30th September 2011

Storm’s pups are now almost 4 weeks old, growing very well, and had their first excursion to the great outdoors due to the rather fantastic uncharacteristic weather at the moment! View the video here.

We have just one girl remaining from Storm’s litter, if you interested then please contact us asap on 01706 220292.

Cuba continues grow at a ridiculous pace, she is now a whopping 28kg at 3 months and 3 weeks!!

We have now added a Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 on the front page. The Gallery 1 will continue to hold previous front page photos, Gallery 2 is new and will now hold all updates of puppy pictures sent in by their owners. This will make it far quicker for us to update the website with new owner photos of their gorgeous dogs.

Who needs clingfilm to keep the food fresh ready for the next meal? … try ‘Leo seal’ by Spartan!! lol!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

13th September 2011

Storm has 7 puppies, born last weekend, Finland is the dad. Four of them are reserved, so we have just 2 girls and 1 boy remaining.

They will go to new homes at the end of October. If you are interested in one of her beautiful pups then please ring us asap 01706 220292 to avoid disappointment.

Storm actually gave birth to 10 pups but had a difficult post delivery period; she suffered a retained placenta that became infected and the infection passed onto 3 of her pups. They unfortunately passed away after a couple of days despite the vets intervention with fluids and antibiotics. Luckily the remaining 7 pups did not get any problems and now are thriving. It did mean we had to bottle feed again for a week as Storm recovered.

Storm’s infection was very severe, she reached a fever temperature of just under 41 degC, but we caught it early enough so with strong antibiotics and good food she is now back to normal and feeding the pups again herself.

One thing we have noticed, and visitors have commented on, is how well the mums look considering they have gave birth to and are feeding a litter of pups. The raw prey diet keeps the weight on the mum during the first 5 weeks of milk feeding and retains their glossy coat and muscle condition. At the end of 5 weeks the mum’s have not lost any weight which is amazing considering. Before, when we fed dry kibble the mum would typically lose between 3kg to 5kg in weight during this phase.

It can be difficult to get the mums to eat dry kibble in the first days probably due to its blandness and the mum being distracted with pups and the birth, but she will eat as much of the raw meat as they can get, especially chicken wings. Storm is currently eating over 2kg of raw meat a day.

Our simply stunningly gorgeous Cuba continues to grow at a prodigious rate, she is now 23kg at 3 months, with a big barrel chest more in line with a big male! Canada adores her, follows her around everywhere, plays with her at any opportunity, is fascinated by her.

We will be adding another article of interest soon regarding pet insurance. This is the result of a rather sad and disturbing incident that we were made aware of recently when a Leo became ill with the subsequent costs and treatment that had to be done, and the actions and attitudes of the vets that treated him.

17th August 2011

We went to the Farndon Summer Fete a couple of weeks back and had a really good time as did everybody who attended. Great to meet up with puppy owners and see how the offspring have developed, fantastic buzzy day! Farndon Summer Fete pictures can be seen here.

Suzie Jump organises the event each year and should be congratulated on her hard work to make the fete a success. She raised over £800 for LCGB Welfare which is a cracking achievement.

Our little girl, Cuba, is settling in to our pack with consummate ease. She is a

whopping 14.3 kg at 10 weeks which is keeping up with the biggest boys at the moment!

Her mum, Africa, is swanning around like a proud peacock because we have kept one of her babies, so lovely to see.

Our girl Storm is pregnant by Finland, and is due to give birth in 3 weeks time. So if you are interested in one of her lovely pups then please contact us asap. We already have 6 reservations for this litter so please don’t delay if you are interested.

Updates; Alfie (Russia, litter 4),

29th July 2011

Pups are now just over 7 weeks old, and they are eating us out of house and home! Each one is eating just under a kg a day of raw meat!

Not long now before they go to their new homes, some very excited owners waiting for the big day!

Don’t forget to go to the Leonberger Summer Fete on Sunday 7th August at

Farndon Sports and Social Club, Sibberfield Lane, Farndon CH3 6NX from 11am to 3pm. We are going as well as many other Leonmoor owners and all proceeds go to Leonberger Welfare and Rescue. Click on the link above for more information.

Should be a great day out and all are welcome!!!

21st July 2011

Africa’s pups are now  6weeks old, weights vary between 6.2kg and 7.9kg. They have had their six week worming session. They are now extremely quick, agile and strong …… trying to get in or out of the pen without being eaten alive by the ‘piranha pack’  is a challenge to behold!

They are still our largest weight wise litter to date.

15th July 2011

Africa’s pups are now just over 5 weeks old, weights vary between 4.8kg and 6.1kg.

8th July 2011

The Kennel Club have now confirmed the registration names which are as follows, all prefixed by our Leonmoor affix:-

The girls are:-

Aphrodite

Athena

Artemis

The boys are:-

Apollo

Ares

Hades

Hermes

Poseiden

Zeus

7th July 2011

Africa’s pups continue to grow at a prodigious rate; they now range between 3.6kg and 4.6kg at 4 weeks.

They have had their second worming session.

3rd July 2011

Africa’s pups are now 3 weeks and 3 days old and are sprinting through puppyhood!

Weights are now between 2.6kg and 3.6kg …. they are positively thriving on this raw meat diet.

Those eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that we have added ‘Passed

Inspection’ under the ‘Kennel Club Accredited Breeder Scheme’ at the top right of the home page.

We did not realise that we are one of the few (if any) Leonberger breeders that have been physically inspected by the Kennel Club to ensure compliance with the scheme.

It has long been a criticism of the scheme that anyone can join it and therefore get the prestige of membership without actually complying with its rules, giving sometimes a false sense of security to potential puppy owners who have gone to them hoping for a measure of competence and professionalism. There was also no enforcement present to make sure breeders actually do what the scheme states … until now. The Kennel Club have appointed inspectors that visit and assess your breeding standards and compliance.

A Kennel Club Inspector checks your facilities, the welfare of the dogs, the dogs accommodation and exercise areas, the puppy rearing areas and all of the paperwork associated with the breeding from puppy contracts to information supplied to new owners. The inspection takes between 2-3 hours. Apparently, all breeders will be inspected at some point, it will just take time to get around to visit them with a limited number of inspectors.

We are very proud to say that we passed, and that overall the report states “The standards achieved exceed many of the requirements of the Accredited Breeder Scheme”.

23rd June 2011

Africa’s pups growing very well, all of them are between 1.5kg and 2.3kg. They are very big for their age, bigger than  Lightning’s litter at the same age, and we all know how big they ended up! They had their first worming session today.

Africa has now earned top accolades as best mum!

She is simply the best mum possible, no trouble, pups cleaned immaculately, calm and careful around them, no whinging when away from them, eats well, not distracted from puppy feeding by other food (unlike adorable gutsy Storm

and Lightning!) ….

Africa’s food intake to feed her little monsters is nothing short of extraordinary .. She is currently fed 3kg of raw meat and 600g of complete dry kibble each day as well titbits .. and still seems hungry!!

Raw Meat food article

We have finally finished our food article! It feels like War & Peace! Hopefully it is not too long, or technical and easy to read.

We would like urge anyone who has any questions regarding the raw meat issue to post the question on the food article page so that the answer can be seen for all to benefit. It is a big step to change over so if you are thinking of doing so then please feel free to air your worries or fears or questions so that we can try to help. Please also air your experiences with raw meat if you have tried it, or are in fact feeding it now, as that will be of great interest to all.

You will not get any help from your vet on this matter, quite the reverse we and others have found, but as they have a massive conflict of interest in the matter (they are trained by, and sell all varieties of dry dog food, as well as the supposedly ‘hypoallergenic’ varieties) we find their negativity hardly objective or based upon fact and biology. More based on reduced sales and ignorance it seems. Harsh words maybe, but based upon ours and many others experiences. If you are lucky then you may find a vet prepared to endorse the changeover, if you do don’t let them go as they are a rare breed to find!

We are firmly of the belief that the raw meat feeding regime is the best possible for the long term health of your Leonberger or any other breed of dog for that matter. Read the article and tell us what you think….

10th June 2011

Africa has given birth to 9 pups! 6 boys and 3 girls, all of a very good size between 500g and 700g in weight. Sadly, one of her pups got stuck in the tube for too long and came out too weak and died an hour later.

We thought her birth was over, Africa relaxed with her pups, had a nice meal of chicken wings and raw beef mince and then fell asleep with her pups feeding. Later Africa went to the toilet, we washed her backend, and she returned to the pups for feeding again and fell asleep.

Twelve hours later after the birth of her last pup who had died, she suddenly without any warning gave birth to another boy! This pup was amazingly perky, straight onto a teet without needing help and settled down to a suckle!

This is the longest time interval by far we have experienced between births, especially with the pup coming out being extremely thrifty and well.

All of Africa’s pups are reserved bar just one boy. If anyone is interested in this remaining boy then please let us know asap on 01706 220292 so we can organise a visit for you to meet mum and dad and us.

All of China’s pups left us last weekend. It was a another cracking collection day, the excitement of everybody picking up their little beauty is very infectious.

This is our first litter where we have encouraged the new owners of the pups to follow a raw meat diet. The pups were primarily raised from the age of 4 weeks on 80% raw meat with 20% Royal Canin Giant Starter. They devoured the raw meat each meal and ate a little of the Royal Canin.

We are pleased to say that the majority of the new owners are giving it a go and feeding raw to the example diets that we produced for them.

We have almost concluded our raw meat study on our own dogs, it has taken a bit longer than anticipated so apologies!

21st May 2011

China’s pups growing very very quickly now, very agile and noisy and boisterous…. this is the adorable stage!

Last worming session at 6 weeks.

Updated a few new photos for the litter … the weather has been so bad it has been difficult to get out to take more, but at last the rain stopped today!

They are very strong and robust now, running up the slope and flying through the gaps in the fence … very difficult to get the food in without getting mauled by the little buggers as they are so quick to get to you!

14th May 2011

Just a quick update with a new video of the pups on their 5th week birthday.

Their weights are now flying up, growing at between 150 and 300 grams per day.

All of China’s pups are now registered with the Kennel Club, the theme for this litter being famous heavyweight boxing champions!

The names will be as follows all prefixed of course by our affix Leonmoor:-

Muhammad Ali

Joe Frazier

Rocky Marciano

Sonny Liston

Joe Louis

Mike Tyson

Lennox Lewis

George Foreman

Larry Holmes

10th May 2011

Just a quick update with some new pictures of China’s litter.

They have also now had their 4 week worming experience; they get wiser with each worming session, by the 6 week the head forcibly tries to get out of the way of the syringe as you try to administer the liquid!

7th May 2011

Pups are now 4 weeks old and have ventured outside for the first time yesterday into the brilliant sunshine and warmth of a lovely May day. Completely unfazed, they fell asleep within 15 mins! The outside environment is so much healthier for the pups development in terms of fresh air and exercise, as well as mental stimulation.

We have had to keep China away from the pups for the past 5 days as her milk was still causing the pups problems, so we have got them onto solids and China has near enough dried up with hardly any milk so we let her back in with them as you can see from the video.

We have now set up a China litter page for her pictures and videos for her litter which you can follow in the coming weeks to see there progress. This link is here as well as on the front page.

Good news for those waiting for Africa’s mating with Finland, she is pregnant and is expecting around 11 pups according to the scan due to be born around the 12th June. We already have 5 pups reserved from this litter so if you are interested in one of her beautiful pups then please contact us asap on 01706 220292.

All of our dogs have been on a completely raw meat diet now for over 3 months. We shall be compiling a summary of our experiences and research, which we shall put on the website in the next couple of weeks, as well as a couple of other people who have done likewise to give a good understanding of the pros and cons of this switch from the complete dry food.

The results have been nothing short of staggering in some cases!

21st April 2011

A rather worrying and maniac couple of weeks with China’s litter; culminating in poor China on antibiotics for a severe mastitis infection. This has put 4 teets out of action and therefore has meant bottle feeding for us taking over from mum, every 3-4 hours 24 hours a day for the past week!! A wee bit tiring!

However, the pups are now back to weights that they should be for their age. All eyes are now open and all doddering around on very unsteady untried legs! China is also getting better and is back to feeding

First worming session tomorrow.

9th April 2011

China gave birth to her pups yesterday!

She delivered 11 pups, one was sadly stillborn, the other 10 doing fine along with a very tired but proud mum.

There are 6 boys and 4 girls. She started with the first pup at a very considerate 1:30pm in the afternoon, and finished at 10:30pm.

7th April 2011

Just a couple of days to go before China gives birth … the excitement mounts!

At the weekend Lightning’s lovely bunch of pups went to their new homes. Huge pups, our biggest yet, ranged in weights from 8.7 to 10.2kg at 7 weeks 2 days old. Sad to see them go, but glad to see them go to lovely new homes with excited parents and kids waiting!

Before the arrival of the new litter we have taken brief interlude to put on the front page some excellent pictures sent in by the owners.

24th March 2011

Lightning’s pups had their last worming session today with us at 6 weeks of age. Weights now are between 6.1kg and 7.1kg, some rather large pups for their age, in fact our largest litter weight-wise at this age.

We have added a new 6 week video taken today and some new pictures.

China is positively blooming with her pregnancy. We have a busy weekend ahead as we have 5/6 visits planned with people who are interested in her pups.

20th March 2011

Lightning’s pups are still growing like crazy, at exactly 5 weeks old they ranged from 4.6kg up to 5.5kg.

They have been outside during the day for a week now, and as usual complain like mad when brought back in at night time!

All of the pups are now registered with the Kennel Club and the theme for this litter is US presidents between 1940 and 1969:-

Males;   Eisenhower, Truman & Johnson

Females:  Roosevelt & Kennedy

China is getting bigger by the day, unusual as they normally only start to really show after 6 weeks, but she is getting big!

Anyone interested in one of China’s pups please contact us asap on 01706 220292

before they all get reserved. We can organise a visit for next weekend for you to visit and meet the mum and dad and the rest of our dogs.

12th March 2011

Our China is pregnant! China has been behaving exactly like she is pregnant, she adores puppies and has been trying to muscle in on Lightning’s current litter for the past 4 weeks! She was our best mum ever last time round so we are hoping for the same dedication to duty this time as well!

She has been scanned showing around 10 pups. We currently have 5 people on China’s list , so if you are interested in one of her and Thunder’s (the dad) pups then please contact us asap on 01706 220292.

Lightning’s litter are growing like crazy, weights are now between 3.9kg and 4.4kg at 4 weeks. Very robust pups, built like miniature tanks, they are definitely taking

after their parents at the moment! They have just had their 2nd dose of worming and absolutely hated it!

Interestingly, we have one crazy girl and one really calm girl in this litter….. reminiscent of India and Lightning actually…. hmmm!!

In about a week they will be introduced to the great outdoors….. …. Yep, our front garden!

1st March 2011

What a ‘talkative noisy bunch’! Pups are usually noisy at this stage, but not as expressively talkative in their responses.

This has unfortunately led to ‘conversations’ at 3 and 4 o’clock in the morning when one would have preferred a moment of quiet reflection!

They have responded well to the introduction of minced chicken, which with the Royal Canin introduced gradually over the next couple of days, means we can wean them off mum’s milk and get some sleep in a proper bed again! Yippee!

Latest video can be viewed here of them at 2 weeks and 4 days old ‘eating’ their mince.

We have been sent this lovely shot of Dudley (China’s litter 11) on the right, at one years old, already proficient in the art of posing for the camera whilst shaking hands with Jane his owner. He looks rather big and a spit of dad, Thunder!

22nd February 2011

Pups are growing like crazy now, between 1.1kg and 1.5kg, very thrifty and lively.

Lightning is a star, eating for England, very attentive yet relaxed. She is producing so much milk she is leaving little puddles everywhere!

16th February 2011

All 5 pups doing well and steadily putting on weight. Compared to her 1st litter,

Lightning is a dream this litter! She is calmness and serenity personified, although still not quite as house proud as one would wish for!

We have compiled a short video of the pups at 5 days old, click here to view.

We have decided to change our dogs over to a completely raw meat diet, with no dry dog biscuits whatsoever. We shall be reporting back our findings in the coming weeks of our experiences and the good and bad points of changing over to this natural diet. Watch this space!

13th February 2011

Lightning gave birth to 6 pups last Thursday. Sadly, one was stillborn.

We were rather surprised to see only 6 pups as the scan clearly showed 10; so we rushed her off to the vets after she had delivered her 6 to make sure that she did not have anymore left inside her.

The X-ray analysis took longer than usual because the vets could not work out what all the extra bones were inside her….. Only to discover upon asking what she had eaten that we told them about the chicken wings! Lol!

Mum and puppies are doing fine, very thrifty, yet content.

Lightning is much more laid back compared to her first litter, very calm and assured this time.

All of Lightning’s pups are already reserved.

We have had to disappoint a few people because she had less pups than anticipated, so already there is a growing list for China’s next litter.

China was mated with Thunder recently, so if you are interested in a puppy from China please contact us asap so we can put you on the list and organise a visit etc. Her pups will be due around early April time.

Don’t forget to read Leona the Life Saver, a lovely true story of how she saved an old persons life through her alertness. These dogs are truly wonderful!

31st January 2011

Not long to go now for Lightning to give birth, just under 2 weeks! Lightning is getting as soppy as a wet sponge lately, very adorably demanding!

We now have 7 pups reserved so if you are interested in a puppy from this gorgeous mating then please contact us asap on 01706 220292.  She was scanned with 10 pups.

Went onto the moors a couple of days ago to get some nice pictures of Brutus and got some great shots of the Man’ !! He has an uncanny resemblance to his mum, India, in looks and character.

5th January 2011

A happy new year to everyone!

A big thank you to everyone who emailed and left messages on the guestbook regarding Alaska; it was lovely to hear from you all, even though each message sent us into sadness again!

We have some good news to start the year off with though, our lovely Lightning is pregnant! Puppies are due to be born around 10th February, going to new homes approximately 8 weeks after that in early April.

She was mated with Brutus, and she has been scanned with 10 pups estimated!

We are so excited by the news as Brutus is one of India’s 1st litter and the brother of Alaska.

Brutus looks the spit of of his gorgeous mum India, he is so handsome! We shall be attempting to get some more pictures of Brutus in the next few weeks to post onto the website.

All those people who expressed an interest in our next litter please contact us again to confirm that you are still interested in a puppy from our lovely girl.

Anybody else who is interested in a puppy please contact us asap so we can organise a visit for you to meet us and our dogs.

18th December 2010

We have lost our wonderful Alaska. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) a couple of months back, and as with the aggressive nature of this disease, it was decided to end her suffering early this month when we felt the painkillers could no longer maintain her quality of life…. she was such a truly special girl still retaining her fantastic character through this difficult period.

As a mum, she remained close to her siblings, Finland, China & Austria, and for the following days after she died they were strangely clingy to us, looking for re-assurance without quite knowing why.

The worst to be affected by far is India, her mum, who even now looks for her in the house when she comes in, and has become very vocal in the past couple of weeks and needing lots of re-assurance which is unusual for her being such a confident girl.

India and Alaska had an interesting relationship; Alaska being the only one that she respected, could not boss about, but Alaska was happy for her to be the leader of the rest of the pack, but would take the mickey at any opportunity …. Something the other dogs would never do!

They would literally growl at each other, tails wagging, everytime they passed each other, every day, sometimes 30 to 40 times a day!

Never anything more than a respectful growl at each other, something that they

appeared to gain great security and stability from, and now that it’s gone India is a bit lost. It is so sad.

Alaska gave love and loyalty to her family at all times; with tremendous humour and character, something that guests of the house would never see. She was very suspicious in her earlier years of guests, especially guarding with Mandy around, but as she matured she relaxed more and realised that she did not need to be so protective of her beloved Mandy!

Many a time we would go into the kitchen to find our Bradley on the floor, asleep, and wrapped around Alaska who adored cuddles.

Alaska was always ‘in-tune’ with us and gave us endearing memories that we shall cherish; times of great laughter, of pride and excitement with the birth of her litters, and a wonderful legacy in the shape of Finland, China & Austria…..

We have made a photo tribute to Alaska that you can view by clicking here. Mandy sung the vocals to the song in memory of her wonderful girl.

Rest in peace Alaska we miss you terribly.

26th November 2010

Unfortunately, our beautiful Africa is not pregnant. Quite a few disappointed people out there who were waiting for good news.

Our next girls due to have a season are Lightning and Korea. Watch this space for updates as we are expecting them to come in anytime in December.

Thunder and Storm passed their annual eye cataract hereditary test … always a relief!

17th November 2010

Updates; new updated information in the Health section concerning Anal

Furunculosis (AF), Dilated Cardio-Myopathy (DCM) and Polyneuropathy (LPN).

Our Canada is now 39kg at 7½ months. She is a real messy girl, always looks as though she has been dragged through a very wet hedge backwards!!

She loves always being wet and bedraggled while everyone else looks so dry and clean…..….she stands in the water bowl and then is rolled around the garden by her best playmates Africa and Korea……hopefully this will pass with the puppy stage …… hmmm!!    just don’t understand the attraction….. but then we are not

Leonbergers!!

We have now added Canada to the Our Dogs section with some new photos of her. Have updated the photos, descriptions and statistics for most of our dogs, new photos for China, Thunder, Canada, Korea.

Lovely couple of shots with Dudley (China litter 11) and a little mouse, click here….   What a fantastic laid back temperament this lad has!

7th November 2010

We have had a successful mating between Africa & Finland!

Three ties over 3 days, so all being well we shall have her scanned for pups in three weeks time so fingers crossed for those waiting for one of Africa’s gorgeous pups!

Our boys have been on regular stud duty lately with girls outside of Leonmoor; both Thunder and Finland have made their mating bitches pregnant so we wish the

breeders well with their upcoming litters and hope all goes well.

Lovely video of Akira and Casia (Africa litter 10 & China litter 11) sent in by the owners of these two playing in the sand …. Could watch them all day … absolutely adorable!!

Updates; Bella (Austria litter 12), Oscar (Storm litter 8)

10th October 2010

Had 4 days in the Scottish Highlands at the weekend with Thunder & China, climbing the mountains around the Ben Cruachan region near to Oban in the Highlands.

Fantastic 2nd day weather allowed plenty of photographic opportunities, the next 3rd and 4th days did not with the weather closing in and us getting rather wet! The last night camp entailed me getting into a wet sleeping bag as the waterproof liner had ripped …. how pleasant!!

For pictures of the trip with Thunder and China click here...

This was Thunder’s third trip, a veteran in these situations, and China’s first.

Thunder is a complete natural in the mountains, extremely agile and confident, nothing phases him and he seems to relish each challenge with gusto! China is quite adventurous, loves to explore, but not as confident or competent on the tricky bits as Thunder. As the walk progressed her confidence grew as she began to realise what she was capable of. Lovely to see her development.

Great picture of Leona and her soul mate Rex,to the right ….. cheeky little minx!

We have added a Gallery  feature to the home page where you will be able to view previous front page photos. We realised that most were unavailable to be viewed after the usual 2/3 weeks before another update, so now you can scroll back if you want to see your favourite front page photo! This will be added to as the weeks go on.

We shall be mating Africa with Finland next week so fingers crossed that it goes ok and she takes!

Updates; Gracie (litter 12), Elsa (litter 13), Kya (litter 9) & Astrid (litter 11).

22nd September 2010

What a brilliant day we had on Sunday for the Leonmoor Reunion Day!!

Many thanks to all who attended and donated to the raffle for Leo Welfare, we managed to raise £90 which was marvellous.

The day started early morning with grey clouds and light rain. The day finished with grey clouds and heavy rain. The day in between was a mixture!!

One of the worst weathers this year with all day rain, and we got it for the Reunion Day!

However, the Cricket Club were very understanding and allowed us all including the 35 odd wet and soggy Leonbergers into their function room. Many thanks to them, it made the day.

We were on a manic adrenaline high for most of the 4 hours, only realising in the evening when we got home that we were exhausted! But what a great day, to see all our offspring in one place was fantastic, words fail us, but we were immensely proud of them all.

The star of the show was our beautiful girl, India, our foundation girl and from whom all the of the offspring in some shape of form originated from. So lucky to have her as our first Leonberger.

The weather prevented us from doing any activities outside. We borrowed some pictures from Simon & Ann Cook (thanks!) at Barralban, who done well inside to take some nice photos of the day. We have also got a couple of short video clips to capture the atmosphere of the day. Please click here….

A couple of thanks; firstly to Derek and Jo Wainright, they own wonderful Alfie (litter 4), and they took the time to set up the cart for the kids to ride in despite the appalling weather. Well done! We have a short video of the carting for you to watch.

Secondly to Tony Wilson, of Jantonely, for his usual helpfulness and for getting the raffle going.

We had puppy owners from as far as Brighton, Cromer on the north Norfolk coast and from Scotland, it was great to see you all there.

16th September 2010

Only 3 days to go before the big Reunion Day, well over 60 people will be attending with their Leonbergers!

Can’t wait for the group photos!! Chaos comes to mind but hopefully we shall get some good photos for the day.

Don’t forget to bring:-

1.               The dog

2.               A prize for the raffle please!

3.               Money to buy tickets for the raffle, and to buy drinks or food from the bar if you so wish.

4.               Camping chairs/foldaway seats or a rug to sit on or to roll about with the dog!

5.               Poop bags to clean up the elephant-sized muck that your beauty will no doubt deposit somewhere!

6.               Water bowl for the dog.

7.               An umbrella or warm water-proof jacket because of the English weather!

Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

27th August 2010

We have posted quite a few updates of puppy’s on the front page from owners that have sent them in, don’t they look great! Litter special updates page click here for the photos.

Our own Canada is now a rather big girl, over the 24kg mark at just under 4 months. It’s like looking at a clone of Thunder when she gazes at you!

The Leonmoor Reunion Day is only 3 weeks away now.

We have discovered that the kitchen will be open for us on the day, and they can do burgers and chips for those that want it, just order on the day. You can if you so wish of course bring your own packed lunch.

The bar is fully stocked up with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and this will also be open on the day for us.

There is no need for a contribution to a food table, but if you so desire you will make yourself very popular and everyone very happy no doubt if you bring along a nice cake for desert with the tea and coffees!

We shall be having a raffle on the day, so if you could please bring a contribution to the raffle table it would be greatly appreciated (bottles of spirits, wine, beer, dog accessories, books, etc are all great prizes that you could contribute).

All proceeds of the raffle will be given to the Leonberger Club Welfare who do a marvellous job under often upsetting situations to re-home our gorgeous Leo’s. So please give generously as it is a great cause!!

Lastly, to make it easier to find and identify your fellow litter pups we would suggest that you wear a name tag with your dogs name and litter mum and number on it so that you can easily find the brothers and sisters from the same litter. Otherwise with over 40 Leonbergers running around it could be fun trying to find them!!

Look forward to seeing you all there!

9th August 2010

We now have 25 confirmed for the Leonmoor Reunion Day! That could mean as many as 45 Leonbergers!! My goodness, look out Haslingden!!

Updates;

20th July 2010

Finally managed to get a photo of the illusive Canada, who has a sixth sense for cameras … she either bounces towards them at full speed or moves away at the same speed rendering the focusing useless!

What a little cracker she is! She does not whine or winge about anything. Just does her own thing and accepts everything that you ask of her by sitting down and giving you the gorgeous ‘Thunder look’!! So adorable!

Update; Leona (litter 12)

10th July 2010

Had a great day walking up Skiddaw in the Lake District. Took along Lightning and Africa for company and have to say that they were the most well behaved dogs ever to be taken into the mountains!

Walking within 3 metres of sheep with the dogs off the lead in the commanded ‘heel’ position and they did not move a muscle to chase them. Was so proud of the beauties! Would have to put India or Alaska on the lead in similar circumstances as the temptation would be too great!

The summit was incredibly windy as the inset picture on the home page shows!

Took a couple of short videos of the dogs (click on the home page) on the way to the summit and waiting for their Matheson’s sausages which was their treat for reaching the summit! Luckily the shelter stones protect against the wind at the summit otherwise you could not stay up there for too long without getting hypothermia!

Video 1;  the girls on the way to the summit ….

Video 2; the girls at the summit ….

Fantastic day!

All of Storm’s pups went to their new homes last Sunday. Great day meeting everyone again, lots of excitement and questions and then the long journeys home.

Our gorgeous Canada has settled in with our clan remarkably well. She is a fantastic mix of playful fun with periods of sitting calmly watching everything that goes on. She is fascinated by great grandma India, at any opportunity follows her around and observes what she does! Mind you, we often watch with amusement as India throws her weight around giving her pack orders and ear-ache, so we can see the attraction!!

Updates; pictures already in of Storm’s (litter 13) pups at their new homes, Ada, Poppy, Dolly, new pictures of Bella & Gracie (litter 12), new pictures of Shadow and Dudley (litter 11).

30th June 2010

We have a new short video of a couple of Storm’s pups playing, with a couple of new

photos.

This litter are all very similar in size and markings, all are now well over 6.5kg in weight.

All being micro-chipped tomorrow.

24th June 2010

We had a smashing day on Saturday as all of Austria’s pups went to their new homes. Early reports have indicated a few miracles ….. some of the pups have not cried the house down during the first night!

We have kept one of Austria’s girl’s because you know the saying “ten is never enough”!

We have decided to call her Canada. She already seems to know she is staying, completely unphased by the adult dogs and approaches everything new with a nonchalant stroll and sniff, half pretending she has seen it all before!

We have kept her in with Storm’s pups which she seems to enjoy, she dwarfs them even though only a few weeks older!

Storm’s pups are now growing very rapidly, their last worming session with us will be tomorrow when they are 6 weeks old. We have added new video 4 for Storm’s pups as well new photos.

Storm & Finland have produced some very dark and red pups, very interesting colours with these beauties!

Already we have over 15 families confirmed for the Leonmoor Reunion Day, which makes at least 25 Leo’s to attend already! Fantastic!

Updates; owners pictures already from Austria’s litter 12, Dillon, Bella, Lottie, Gracie, Savannah.

18th June 2010

Austria’s pups have all now been micro-chipped. We are registered micro-chippers so it makes this task much easier than taking them all down to the vet in the back of the car!

Storm’s pups registrations are now through, all prefixed with our Kennel

Club affix Leonmoor:-

Boys;  Scheter, Dean, Ibanez, Epiphone

Girls;  Gibson, Fender, Jackson, Yamaha, Marshall, Spider

Update; new picture of Spencer (litter 11).

We already have at least 10 confirmed for the Leonmoor Reunion Day.

New Information; we have updated the Health section of our website to include Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Anal Furunculosis.

16th June 2010

New short video showing Storm’s and Austria’s pups together … amazing what just 2 weeks age difference looks like!

Storm’s pups have been registered with the Kennel Club, the theme for her litter is famous makes of guitar! We shall post the Kennel names once we have them.

Already a great response for the Leonmoor Reunion Day with many confirmations, should be a cracking day!

Austria’s pups now weigh between 6.0kg and 7.3kg.

10th June 2010

We have posted new videos of both Austria’s & Storm’s litters. Storm’s video is unfortunately poor quality due to dark indoor shooting, but within the next week we shall be able to get some good quality outdoor footage of the little beauties as they venture outside for the first time!

Austria’s pups at 6 weeks now weigh between 5.1kg and 6.0kg.

All of Austria’s pups are now registered with the Kennel Club, and the theme for this litter is World War II fighter planes!

All prefixed with our KC affix Leonmoor:-

Boys;  Spitfire, Hurricane

Girls;  Typhoon, Hellcat, Wildcat, Mosquito, Mustang, Tempest

We have at last organised a Leonmoor Reunion Day to be held on Sunday 19th September 2010 at Haslingden Cricket Ground!

We are rather excited about getting all our litter pups back for a great reunion day,

everyone can meet up with their litter brothers and sisters and see how they have

developed, swop stories etc. Should be a great day!

Our oldest litter is now 6 years old, our Alaska was one of India’s first litter, so hopefully we can get a few of her litter mates back for the reunion.

We know there are not many Leonberger events ‘up north’ so we are giving an open

invitation to other Leonberger owners who want a day out with like-minded Leo lovers!

Please email us asap if you are coming along so we can get an idea of numbers that will be attending. We shall be giving more details of the day in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye on the website. We have given the date early so people can put the date in the diary with plenty of notice.

2nd June 2010

We have had a rather interesting nightmarish time for the past 6 days with no telephone or internet! Our little ‘darling’, Korea, managed to chew through both telephone cables outside on the wall!

So apologies for anyone trying to phone us, but we have got all the emails but some cannot be responded to with limited Blackberry access.

We have taken a few videos of Austria’s pups and you can find the latest videos 5 & 6 by clicking on the home page and Austria’s litter.

Austria’s pups now weigh between 3.9kg and 4.6kg, so all doing really well.

Poor Storm developed a minor mastitis problem in several of her teets, no milk could get out due to the blockages, so Austria came to the rescue for a couple of feeds and fed Storm’s litter until she could take over again! Well done Austria!

We shall be updating Storm’s litter soon with new videos and pictures when they get to that slightly older stage.

Updates; Sam (litter 11), Casia (litter 11) with little ducklings!
